BENTO UNSURE ON GROUP

The manager of the Portugal national football team, Paulo Bento, has said that his side has got a difficult group in the World Cup finals, but, they will try their best to make their way into the pre quarter finals.

Portugal has been placed in Group G along with some strong teams like Ghana, Germany and USA. Germany is in fact one of the favourite teams to win the tournament and it’s them whom Portugal will be facing in their opening match.

Winning against USA and Ghana is also not going to be that easy for Portugal, but, it’s the match against Germany which they would be worried about the most.
Talking to the reporters yesterday about Portugal’s chances in the World Cup finals, Bento said, “We have got one of the most difficult groups in the tournament. Germany is off course the favourite to move further from that group simply because of their past record and the kind of talent that they have got.”

“The other two sides are good as well especially Ghana. So, none of our matches is going to be easy, but, that doesn’t affect our ambition. Our ambition is to make it to the final 16 and we will be giving our 100% to achieve that goal of ours.”

Bento also said the skipper of his side Cristiano Ronaldo should be given the Ballon d’Or award this time around.
The Portuguese manager said, “I think Cristiano is the greatest footballer going around at the moment and he deserves Ballon d’Or more than anybody else.”

Ronaldo’s performance for Real Madrid in the ongoing season has been outstanding. He has found the back of the net 26 times in 20 appearances that he has made for them so far.
