CHELSEA FALL TO CITY

Chelsea has been defeated by Manchester City in a Premier League match played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday. City won the match by 2-0. This was a dominant performance by the Citizens. This was their 16th win in the league. But, they are still 12 points behind the Red Devils who are at the first position in the points table.

After City’s defeat in the match against Southampton, the manager of Manchester City Roberto Mancini had publicly criticized his players and had said that he was disappointed with the body language of the players in the match.

But, the way Manchester City has played in the last two matches, Mancini wouldn’t have any issue with the approach of the players. City has played fantastic football in the last couple of games and has won them by profound margins.

The same thing can’t be said for the Blues. They had struggled in their last match against Sparta Prague and they were pretty poor in this match as well. Now, this defeat has increased their chances of moving down in the points table. They are currently at no. 3, but, if Tottenham Hotspur will defeat West Ham United tomorrow, Chelsea will move down to no. 4 in the points table.

In the match against City, the Blues looked under pressure and they played with a defensive approach right from the outset. City took the lead with the goal of Yaya Toure in the 63rd minute of the match and then, just 5 minutes before the end of the game, Carlos Tevez doubled City’s lead by deflecting David Silva’s cross into the net.

Chelsea’s next match will be a FA Cup (5th round) clash against Middlesbrough. That match will be played at the Riverside Stadium on Wednesday.
