Drogba Completes Return To Chelsea

Didier Drogba completed his return to Chelsea as he denied offers that were launched at him mostly arriving from the MLS. Last season of the Premier League Chelsea struggled trying to find a solid and consistent player that could score goals for them but the arrival of Diego Costa is expected to solve that problem, it still comes into question however what role will Didier Drogba be playing.

At his 36 years of age Didier Drogba is certainly not expecting to get a starting spot in the lineup of Jose Mourinho who already has at his disposal players such as: Fernando Torres, Romelu Lukaku and Andre Schurrle.

When the transfer was completed, it was revealed however that Drogba would not only be playing a role in the squad but the Ivorian forward is going to be helping Jose Mourinho in his decisions of who to pick during matches.

It will be a relationship similar to the one that existed between David Moyes and Ryan Giggs as the veteran midfielder played a role of an interim player-manager as he performed in some matches as well as aiding Moyes in his managerial tactics and options in the squad.

Drogba told Chelsea’s official site: “It was an easy decision; I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again. Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me. My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career.”

During his time performing at Stamford Bridge, Drogba went on winning the Premier League, FA Cup, Football League Cup, Community Shield and the Champions League title. His experience is something that Jose Mourinho wanted to add into the team as he can help guiding some of the newer players on how to achieve success with the next generation of performers.
