Chelsea has defeated Arsenal in a Premier League match played at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday. Chelsea won the match by 2-1. This was a high profile-encounter and not even a single seat in the stadium was empty. More than 60,000 people were out there to watch these two fantastic teams taking on each other. Neither of the two teams had suffered a defeat before this match.

Chelsea kept their no. 1 position in the points table with another victory. On the other hand, Arsenal has moved down to no. 7 in the points table with 9 points in six matches.

As expected, it was a brilliant match. It was a display of high class football by both the teams. The Gunners lost the match, but, they fought hard for sure. It was Chelsea which got ahead in the match in the 20th minute when Juan Mata’s cross was brilliantly deflected into the net by Fernando Torres.

The scores got levelled in the 42nd minute with the goal of Gervinho. It was a great team effort by the Gunners. Jenkinson passed the ball to Arteta who got rid of an Arsenal defender and took the ball a few steps ahead before passing it to Chamberlain towards the right wing. Chamberlain gave the cross to Gervinho who got into a good position before blasting the ball into the net.
At the half time break, the scores were levelled at 1-1.

But, in the second half, the Chelsea players showed fantastic coordination and the team managed to take the lead in the 53rd minute. Chelsea earned a free kick and Juan Mata was given the responsibility to take the shot. The Spanish striker was up to the task. It was a powerful strike which flew into the bottom corner of the net. The Gunners didn’t find the net in the remaining time and lost their first game in the competition.

Arsenal will now take on Olympiakos in a Champions league match on 3rd of October at the Emirates Stadium.
